Mahopac Gets Cuddly
MAHOPAC, N.Y. - Pet lovers from all over the region came to Park Ford in Mahopac on Saturday afternoon for the first-ever Kitten Cuddle Fest, sponsored by South Salem-based Rock 'n' Rescue, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to rescue pets in need and find homes for them. "We rescue pets to rescue people" is the Rock 'n' Rescue motto. They rescued most of the kittens from a kill shelter in Kentucky, but a few came from North Carolina and New York as well.
But it wasn't just kittens that were up for adoption. There were dogs and bunnies, too. The group announced that at the end of the day, 27 kittens, three dogs and two bunnies had found their forever homes.
The event featured live classic rock from the band Alter Ego and the Park Ford staff grilled up burgers and hot dogs for the attendees.
